Woodworm treatment

Not every home that has holes in its timbers has live woodworm. Fresh piles of fine, sawdust-like frass below the holes mean the infestation is still active, and the right treatment depends on which beetle is doing the damage.

Members of the public are advised not to try dealing with pest problems themselves, especially wasp nests, as shop-bought treatments are not only ineffective, but are increasingly causing problems for birds and other wildlife. With many councils no longer providing pest control services for free, home and business owners are increasingly turning to DIY methods to try to eliminate problems.

It is not always about chucking poisons down every time. New laws and strict guidelines are now in force that all pest controllers have to follow, and most problems we come across are treatable with simple control methods that customers can follow very easily, like simply placing rubbish in bins with a secure lid in place.

A pest free survey for landlords and letting agents

At Pestguard we get lots of calls from tenants and landlords asking who is responsible for getting rid of insects and rodents, and who is responsible for paying. If the pests were in the property before the tenant moved in, the landlord has to deal with them; if they appear afterwards, it’s the tenant. The catch is proving which.

Pestguard offer a pest free survey inspection to all landlords, estate agents and letting agents in the North East of England, for all empty property, to find out if it is pest free from insects and rodents before a tenant moves in.
